Glimpse into the intricate art of Mithila painting and create your own artwork guided by local artisans.
Originating from the Mithila region of Nepal, Mithila Painting is a unique and vibrant style of painting that holds great cultural significance. The painting is a vibrant storytelling art form created using fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, natural dyes and pigments to make a masterpiece. Originally practiced by women from various communities, it has become an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Mithila region. In this workshop, you’ll learn how colours, patterns, and motifs represent stories, beliefs, and identity.
As you reach the workshop, the artisan will welcome you and show you around how this art has been an integral part of their culture. Guided by local artisans, you’ll create your own painting while understanding the deeper meaning behind each design. You will be provided a range of colour palette and brushes to calmly draw and create your own masterpiece. Afterwards, savour a Nepalese lunch prepared by the artisan to conclude your experience.
